Questions for Baba

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Namaste,

I have known the silence and loudness of life.
I have known the sadness and happiness of life.
I have known the silence of the woods before the winds of spring begin.

And within the depths of my mind, I wonder: of what use are words?
Do they not hurt us?
Do they not pull us from the moment of love and bring us into
yesterday’s pain or tomorrow’s fear?

I ask my Baba, “Why do I write these words, trying to touch so many to
help heal their wounds and fix their hearts?”
He smiles and says as clear as day, “THIS IS YOUR PURPOSE, YOUR REASON FOR
FLESH, IS IT NOT?

I smile and say, “Of course, my Beloved.”

I remember asking the same question before.
Why do I forget the answer I ask of my Beloved Guruji?

He smiles again and says,” What if you remembered everything you have
ever said? Where will the fresh flowers or the new answers go?”

“Are not the answers always the same?” I ask.

“Each moment is different, through lifetime after lifetime. There is so
much to ask about, to live and to learn; and so your children grow, and the answers grow along
with the questions.
You are too full of wisdom for the heart to have the tongue to utter the
knowledge all at once.

“There is a great range of answers you have, Ma, always ready for the
great range of questions they will ask you as the centuries go on. Then it
all becomes very exciting and real as you teach them to teach.”

I bowed before my Guru Baba, and wondered how many more questions I will
have for my Beloved.

He turned and looked toward me and answered my unasked question- and I
smiled at us both.

I love you all.

Love,
Ma Jaya

Calling the Light

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Namaste,

All that is negative is sustained by ignorance.
Ignorance is just like darkness; yet the moment you bring light, it will disappear.
Call the Light to you now this very moment.
Calling the Light to your heart is the easiest path for realization of the Mother.

Bring compassion into your life and the lives of others.
The Mother always has compassion for you.
Think of those who have not had much light around them, and send them compassion.
How does your heart feel when you do this?
Seek the silence and fulfillment that the silence brings you.
It brings an expansion of one’s consciousness.
As you lay down this night ask the Mother to come to you and open your heart.

Then fall asleep saying to yourself, “I am loved, I am love; I am loved, I am love.
Say these words over and over.
The Mother will hold you all this night.
I love you all.

Love,
Ma Jaya

Music of the Heart

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Namaste,

The human heart carries the deepest intimacy of all.
It carries the force and power of love, and that love touches all.
Service does that.
It has a life of its own.

The nature of the soul bursts forth from the music of the heart.
When you take the time to hear the hearts of others, you can learn so much.
Human life is difficult and complicated; yet we gain so much if we take the time to learn about others and the way they feel.
In every heart there is a voice of love that wants to be heard.
It is true, kind and compassionate.
This is the inner voice and the inner song of the heart.

So much depends on the whisper of the heart.
It whispers from beyond and encourages us all to listen.
Each day we can hear the voice of light and joy in the world and beyond.
There is dignity, hope and compassion.
Regardless of all the disappointments in life, we can always find the whispers of love.

I celebrate all of our lives and our teaching of service.
One of the greatest voices you can hear is the voice of compassion.
Without compassion, you feel completely alone.
You cannot find the light anywhere.

When those who love you cannot feel your love, and you know that they are in pain, visualize the joy of friendship and love finding its way to their hearts.
This love helps them to see the inner light.
It is a whisper.
It is a voice of love.
It is a divine whisper in the human heart.
Learn to listen.
Take the time to hear the voice of others.
Sometimes it is lost, yet you can always find it.
Without a doubt, we all can find the lost voice.

This is the wonderful part of your heart that must help others – that wants to help others.
Listen this day to the voice of a person that you never listened to before.
Feel if they are lost.
Feel if they cannot find their way.
Listen closely.
Watch how your heart opens wide.
Through the poetry of wanting love for others, you find the beauty of the presence of the Mother.
It is exciting and warm.
It is not cold or empty.
It is filled with the music of the heart.
Listen well, and dance to the music of life and love.
Listen to others, and you will know that the heart has ears.

I love you all.
Love,

The Great Light Breath Meditation

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Namaste,

Breath:  THE GREAT LIGHT

Sit quietly
Watch your breath.
Feel your breath coming in and out.
Do this with great awareness, as if your life depended on it.
With each in-breath say to yourself, “I am loved, I am loved; I am loved, I am loved; I am loved, I am loved.”
You will know when you have said this enough.

Then send a great light coming through the top of your head into the pit of the belly.
Breathe in and out of your belly.
Each time you breathe, breathe in more deeply.
The great light is warming your belly, which was cold with self-doubt.
Keep breathing in and out of your third chakra.
Picture the Light getting brighter and brighter.
After about five minutes, feel the Light spread throughout your body.
Each time you breathe in and out, the light gets stronger.
Focus in the center of your chest, breathing the light in and out.
Then breathe in the deepest breath you have ever taken, hold it for the count of seven, and let it out with a great amount of force.
Do this three times feeling the staleness leave your body, leaving in its place only the great light.
Then just relax, letting the breath do what it wants to.
Feel a deep warmth come over you, the warmth of your Beloved’s love.

Sit for as long as you are comfortable, feeling the warmth and the light.
Your Beloved will be with you deep in that same light of bliss.

With love,
Ma Jaya

Perfect as You Are

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Namaste,

Many times I receive letters asking, “Ma, why can’t I sleep at night?  I turn over and over thinking how inadequate I am and this was when certain things came up.  I even feel worthless; why do I feel like this?”

I can only answer that these people are listening to their ego and not their hearts.

When a negative thought rises, there will be a sense of contraction – a tightening and bracing of the muscles.

Once your body acts this way, you begin to think that you are the body instead of your beautiful heart.

The ego may send you thoughts of rejection from those who love you, and you choose to believe the ego.

I say to all of you that you are perfect as you are, and a thought is just that – a thought. It is only a thought. It cannot harm you or others unless you let it – unless you give it permission to do so.

You keep feeding the information back into your mind and you get more and more nervous, sending stiffness into your body.

Negative thoughts or images are pushed away in a gentle way, since they have no substance. They are just thoughts.

There is a close link between depression and the body, which only love can separate.

People tend to send a message that a person who is depressed is weak. These are people who try to hide their depression. The ego can have you thinking with great certainty that you are not loved.

By listening to your ego, you behave differently from your natural self.

Remember that you are perfect as you are, and that a thought is simply a thought.

I love you all.

Diwali Festival of Lights

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Namaste,

Saturday night looked like a fairy land here at our Sacred Ashram.

We celebrated Diwali  which is the festival of lights celebrated in many cultures and religions.

It is the celebration of light over darkness of good over evil.

A simple celebration filled with good will and joy in all of our hearts.

The Dattatreya Temple was aglow in light as I took my chelas into their hearts.

The candles seemed to light the way like days of old.

Every one felt the depth of it all and the meaning of the light that never stopped lighting our way  into the Formless.

Holding the children and telling them about the festival of lights was a complete joy.

It made me miss my little Anthony so much my great grandson and all my babies.

Wait till I get my hands on baby boy bean Shiva Jaya and little Jelly Bean.

We are so blessed.

Happy Diwali my chelas

I love you all so very much.

We also celebrated our Kali Ma Bhagavati’s 86th birthday.

She gets younger and younger.

The Body and the Self

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Namaste,

There are five sheaths: food, life, breath, mind, intellect and bliss.
The body of the world is created out of food.
Life increases by eating and perishes when there is no food.
It is the sheath of food.

There is the compound of skin, blood, flesh, fat, marrow, excreta and urine.
None is looked down upon by the truly holy.
The body has no existence before birth or after death but appears between them.
The body undergoes change every moment.
There is no set law governing that change.

The Self, on the other hand, is distinct from the gross body: it is single, eternal, and pure.
It is indestructible.
When the body is destroyed by time, the Self is the witness who knows the characteristics of the body.
It is self-aware, and it directs the body.
This is the difference between the body and the Self.

Those who do not understand think the body is the Self; they fear for the body instead of thinking of the beauty of the Soul.
Thinking “I am the body” is the seed of all sorrow.
Therefore, do not identify with your body as permanent, just as you do not identify yourself with your shadow.
Identify yourself as the Self.
The Beloved makes every effort to root out your thoughts that you are the body and not the self.

I have been teaching my students to honor all life and all life forms by cutting away prejudice and placing full acceptance of all ways and choices.
The sweetness of meditation brings us all to bliss.

This is the time to show the world that love can survive through everything, just like the Self.
Come toward your Beloved, and everything will fall in place.
Be positive, and know in your Self that you can have everything.
I love you all so very much.

Love,
Ma Jaya

Finding What is Real

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Namaste,

The transition from the ego to the Higher self shows in so many ways.
What is real is united with existence.

You can reach behind the veils of creation and find yourself.
The dance of life goes on and on.
The veils of illusion disappear as you find your Beloved.

The heart of the mystic is awakened as one takes one step on Kashi’s Sacred Grounds.
One can sense the heart opening.

When you meditate, you come to know the majesty of the Mother.
The Universal Mother shows Herself to those who call upon Her.

Be kind to yourself, be simple, and do not take the outer reality as if that is all that there is.
If you do, you become imprisoned in the outer world.
By looking at the inner reality, you can live easily in the world and never leave your Beloved.

When the outer world is not penetrated by the inner light, there is only a grayness or darkness.
By cutting away from the world of illusion, one finds what is real.

Turn away from the outer world and seek the Mother in the heart.
Everything is the Mother.
She is the manifest and the unmanifest.
She is the expression of reality.
The Universal Mother longs to be known and will always come to you.
She helps you meet the two worlds with love and compassion.

There is a sense of magic when one calls on the Mother.

I love you all so very much.

Love,
Ma Jaya
