From Ma’s morning pujas & prayers, February 25, 1999

One time there was a wonderful kirtan being sung by the chelas of a well known and wise Guru (and gorgeous and thin, and size 2, well Its my story and I can lie if I want to).
One of the chelas played the ektara like a sweet breeze from the loka of the Gods.
All who heard were in divine bliss.

After the Kirtan and Darshan was over, all the chelas went to their rooms on the Ashram, they were all in ecstasy.
The Guru was made very happy.

During the early morning hours, the Guru heard strange sounds while she was doing Puja, It was the 2 strings of the ektara quarreling.
The Guru listened how the strings voices began to get uglier and uglier.

The first string said loudly: I am the most important of strings, one hears me first.
The second string said, oh no, I am the most important of strings, I end the divine sounds.
The Guru listened and then walked over to the ektara just as the drums began to wake up and join in.
When they saw the Guru’s face they backed away ( very smart drums ) The Guru walked over to the ektara and tightened both the strings until they were choking, and almost to the point of breaking.
Then she made them very loose until no sound came out.
Then she tuned one string and the other she kept out of tune.
Then visa versa.
Then she tuned them both in sweet harmony.
The Guru said to the strings, if one of you are out of tune then both sound bad.
Stay in tune with each other and make beautiful music for the Guru and the Gods.
The Moral of this story is one you know.
It is that you are all strings on the Guruji’s great instrument called Satsang.
Stay in your heart and worship the Divine Mother and Guru.
The Guru is the master musician, yet the strings must be in tune with each other and that is called beauty of satsang.

From a darshan with Ma 08-11-1999

When you begin to analyze your life and you begin to ask the question “Who am I,” you realize that you are not bound within the limits of a mind and the senses. When you realize this, you transcend unhappiness.

Unhappiness is nothing but the perception of a certain limitation within your own being.
Go beyond yourselves, my chelas.
Feel the essence of your innermost spirit.
Feel the Guru in this place.

Ramana Maharshi is and was one of the greatest teachers of His time.
Our Baba and Our Swami had and have the greatest respect.
He is also one of your Guru-ji’s teachers.
“Why,” I asked this great man, “do you want so many to ask the question WHO AM I?

He answered me in this way:
“Some thoughts die from meditation.
Some thoughts die from japa.
Some thoughts die from karma yoga.
Yet all thoughts die from this wonderful inquiry.”

“Be a lion, Ma,” He said, “when you teach your children – and teach them to be of the lion lineage.
Let them ask from the depth of their souls who they are.”

I bowed my head and asked, “And what will the answer be, my teacher?”

“The answer will be different for all of them” He said.
“Some will hear the word God, others will hear the word love, and yet all who ask with the desire to truly know will hear the words, THE GURU’S CHILD.
Persistent effort will then come to the chelas who ride the lion of spirituality.
The greatest challenge one has in front of them at this time on the path is being quiet enough to hear the words, THE GURU’S CHILD.
Do not let human feelings get in the way of these words and keep you far apart from who you are.
These feelings are only attachments.
True feelings of love come from asking ‘Who am I.’
Truer feelings come from hearing the answer.”

When life brings you challenging eye openers, remember that you are the Guru’s child.
As you truly begin to ask “Who am I,” with the desire to know the answer, then all depressing moods will disappear.
Many negative thoughts may begin to come up as you say this wonderful mantra from this great man.
It is at that time you understand that you, the chelas of the Mother, were raised on the Mother’s milk of the lion and that you are brave enough to be the Guru’s child and smart enough to know it.

When the Guru talks to you, you must listen,
Even if the listening is painful.
When you sit at the feet of the Guru, you are sitting at the feet of one who loves God so much that she was willing to take flesh for the sake of God’s own children.

These are my pujas and these are my prayers.

I love you.
Love, Ma Jaya
Kashi Ashram

From a darshan with Ma Jaya, September 25, 2008

Namaste my chelas,

One of the greatest gifts I can give you is the ability to trust yourself.
It is the Shakti of worthiness that dispels darkness, the darkness that has you clinging to your old habits.
As the ego surrenders to your trusting the Universe and yourself, you can observe a light shining through all your doubts.
Each of us has male and female energies within us.
Trusting yourselves opens all the channels to both energies.
Paying conscious awareness to the Female Energy has you all becoming the Mother.
Whether you are man or woman, it is the Female Energy that creates trusting and intuition.

Action taken by each of your energies with awareness is the basis for all creation.
Be aware of your movements in order to become creative in your life and to open the door to your Higher Intelligence.
The female and male aspects are together shown in the one of the many forms of Lord Shiva.
His left side is the feminine and the right side the masculine.
In meditation, both are merged into each other.
The Ancient Mother of the heart watches as Her children use both energies.
The ego keeps you avoiding either your male or female aspect, thus keeping you off balance.
Both aspects meet in the center of the heart, the center of your chest.
Living in a state of consciousness of love keeps you balanced, no matter what life throws at you.
The ego’s consciousness is cloudy and keeps you out of your heart.
The ego also keeps you in a state of procrastination.
Being in the center of your chest brings energy to your being in the now, thus stopping procrastination.

The Mother brings you into the energy of being.
This helps you create a newness in your Shakti that brings you awareness.
The Mother also brings you more enjoyment when you are being aware.
Take a deep breath this moment, and then exhale slowly, saying to yourself, “Relax.”
Do this for 11 breaths.

You are now at a deeper, healthier place in your life, simply by saying, “Relax.”
Believe it or not, so much can get done when you relax!
This is because you become at home with your two energies, male and female.
Keep breathing deeply and notice how your breath is filled with a loving energy, and it circulates to every cell of your body.
You are feeling safe and secure.
You begin to realize that you have access to this energy anytime you want.
Open yourself with each in-breath.
Allow yourself to absorb it.
Say to yourself, “I feel this loving energy flowing through me.”
Feel positive and confident with every in-breath.
Know that you are strong and powerful.
Go deeper and deeper with each in-breath.
Release yourself from preconceived thoughts.
Notice you can concentrate as you pay attention to your in-breath.
Be absorbed in your in-breath.

Now pay attention to your out-breath, only your out-breath.
Feel all tension leave your body.
Feel all darkness disappear out of your body.
Any negative thoughts that you ever had experienced leave on the out-breath.
Feel the freedom of watching your breath.

Now as each breath comes in, say in to yourself, “In.”
As each breath flows out, say “Out.”
Do this for as long as you are comfortable.
Then take a deep breath and notice how much more relaxed you are – how much more balanced you are.
Breathe out, and feel the freedom that observing your breath has brought you.
Feel your body flowing and glowing.
You have just awakened both your male and female energy.
Now you are ready to live in the moment.

I love you all.
Love,
Ma Jaya

This is a repost of a darshan from March 25, 2005.

Today is Good Friday. There was a time my children would just sit in meditation and I didn’t come out on Good Friday. I was doing my pujas in my own solitude.

This whole week has the essence of Christ. It is not only for Christians to understand the agony of the gods. It is for all peoples to know that when you can’t come toward the god or the goddess, you become very tight.

So we take this day to remind us that there is so much pain out there. The world is in a place of such agony that it rips out the heart of all the teachers, the holy people, the swamis, of everyone.

I get letters from all over the world asking, “Where does one begin?” You begin in this moment. Sometimes it hurts to be in the moment, especially when you’re locked into that place of the desire to be right. That’s such a painful space to be in. It’s like black daggers coming at your very center and they create holes in your being, leaking pride – and gratitude is lost in the fog of the mind.

I want you to understand the passion in my heart. No matter how cruel life was I always had joy because I had found passion for God and for Goddess.

If you don’t have that passion—which you all do—but if you don’t awaken that passion inside of your chest and your physical body, a hard crust forms. When love finally reaches out and goes deep within the rhythm of your physical heart and the spiritual heart, it hurts because the wounds are so deep.

To go into liberation is not getting hit with lightning. It’s simply becoming aware that you are loved, no matter what.
When that happens, your whole being sings out praises simply because you are alive; there’s a magic that happens. And the magic doesn’t stop. The magic goes on and on and on. The second that you can say “I am loved,” with only 50% belief, then you know you have that magic inside of you.

So you are not escaping life by going deeply into meditation, but you are renewing your ability to feel your soul in order to live life fully.

With all my love
Ma Jaya
Kashi Ashram

Namaste,

When you bring the Goddess into the heart, you become content in your day-to-day actions.
You bring balance to your life.
The breath becomes the breath of the Mother.
The connection of the Soul Mother to the seeker brings the realities of daily living in perspective.
The Divine Self will always rise above the illusion of Maya.

While the world seems to be a perfect reality, one learns through meditation that it is all a dream that can pass at any given moment.
If you analyze your pain and anger in the world, you will find that the only one hurting you is you.
You are confined to your own self-thoughts.
Clouds of illusion arise and vanish in the worldly mind.
The cosmic mind has the seeker’s vision soar and the Souls’ Heart expand.

There are no mental complexities in Samadhi, which comes by meditating at the feet of your Beloved.
You do not possess your own body; it belongs to the one who created you.
Knowing this, you can let all your 11 Karmic Spaces disappear into the cosmic space of your being.
The idea that ‘this is mine’ cannot exist, once you give your life to the God or Goddess of your choice.
I ask you all to wake up, to rub the worldly sleep out of your eyes.
Come toward your Beloved.
Light your heart with the joy of loving your Beloved.
It is as simple at that.
When I think of my Guru Baba, there is nothing in the world or the heavens that can occupy the same space of this thought.

Lord Ganesha is the gatekeeper of the Mother’s Gate.
Therefore He is the gatekeeper of all Her children’s lives.
Turning toward the Guru, one also turns immediately to Lord Ganesha, for He is the favorite of the Guru.
Every prayer and puja starts with Ganesha.
If every morning started with loving Ganesha, we would be connected to millions all over the world.
He helps us find self-discipline.

Your essential self knows what to do in every circumstance in life and death.
Negative impressions, which are locked in your karmic mind, do not impress your essential self.
You receive the blessings of Lord Ganesha by sitting quietly every day.
You carry these blessings all throughout the day, and, eventually, they lead to self-realization.
You are all bound to be successful in life when you give your life to Lord Ganesha.

One can find the simplicity of Ganesha in all religions and paths.
One needs only to look.
In your unconscious minds, He generates love and a place to put past and present experiences of pain and grief.
He devours your self-pity, even as he drips with compassion for all you have gone through.
He will teach you to be compassionate towards others and encourage the positive in each and every one of them.
Turn to Lord Ganesha each and every day, and He will turn to you.
This is my Puja and this is my Prayer.

Love,
Ma Jaya
Kashi Ashram

Taken from a darshan with Ma Jaya on June 9, 2006

Namaste my Chelas,

Deep down within everyone is a fountain of truth and wisdom.
The wisdom that is the inner voice of every heart is called intuition.
It is not learned; it is simply acknowledged.

Intuition is incredibly silent unless you are listening quietly in moments of searching your heart.
When you sit in quiet contemplation, you can sense the open heart of intuition.
The living, flowing wisdom that touches us all (if we allow it to) is always there.
The intuition in all of us is a light inside the flame and the heat in the fire of humankind.
Through meditation, you can feel your spirit immersed in the cosmic flow to the Mother’s love.

Meditation is the vantage point gained each time you sit quietly and surrender to the Goddess within your heart.
Here are all the highest values and the greatest amount of life that is offered.
It is the emptiness and stillness.
One becomes able to see with the eyes of non-judgment.
All the efforts you put into living in the moment add up to your life experiences in this moment.

Our Baba recognizes all of us by the touch of His hand on our hearts.
The ultimate worth of meditation can be found in small things during your day and night.
Meditation completes the want and need in all of us.
Be mindful, and bring a new dimension to your love of Paramaguru and Guru.
Sit in the sun of this love, and feel the heat of compassion well up inside of you.
“Feed everyone,” our Baba always says, and indeed we do.
This is the highlight of our lives – the ability to feed everyone.

Feel the whole of your breath this morning.
Watch the breath flow over you and inside of you as you breathe in.
Breathe out with deep awareness; let all the breath out by contracting your stomach muscles.
Breathe in again as if you were breathing all the dawn; be aware of your body.
Then be aware of the warmth of your breath.
Breathe out with the awareness of a new dawn and a new life.
Breathe with awareness all this day.

You will have a fuller day, and thus a fuller life.

I love you all.

Feel this love this very second.
Be in this love in the now.
This is my Puja and this is my Prayer.
I love you all so very much.

Love
Ma Jaya
Kashi Ashram

Chela’s Ego: taken from a darshan, February 1982

Namaste my chelas,

Death to the ego comes painfully, like a dull knife cutting into your whole being.
You know you can’t turn back.
But I can teach you to dance, both in the world and out of it.

The dull painful knife comes only with resistance and non-surrender.
Guru can only take chela to God and back to the Mother’s feet in absolute ecstasy, knowing you’re one of the few, very few, chosen.

When you learn to see through the world’s Maya, the dance has begun.
You ignore the world even though Maya works harder than ever.
You know it is the Mother trying to trick you, to push you through the net of illusion.
Yet what you don’t know is that all the time Maya is dancing, Mother and Daughter are bleeding upon the snows saying silent prayers to Baba that you make it.

Now the day has come when the knife is no longer there, just Mother and child.
Once in God, once getting close as well as scared, the love will carry you through any darkness.

I beg Baba to give you understanding of these words.
Soon, when you don’t look for it, it comes slowly—so slowly, like ages, it creeps up around you and in you.
What was disaster yesterday seems trivial today.
For the day you truly give up to what you know, the soul realizes how nothing all is, except the love of Guru, God and Mother.
Then all works out, not in a complicated way, but simply, when a chela serves on his way to God.

I love you,
Love,
Ma Jaya
Kashi Ashram

Taken from a transcript of darshan at an Atlanta Intensive, March 31, 2006 titled Preventing Chaos

In the Vedic tradition, the great Sages and the great Sadhus many times climbed a mountain and their chelas climbed right after them.
The sages would sit on rocks and their chelas would sit almost on the edge, never knowing if they were going to fall down or not.
In that moment all chaos disappeared, because they were too busy trying to sit still on the edge of a high mountain, on a small plateau before the peak.

What the world is going through is entering into you.
Each time you hear something or see something, it enters into you.
You don’t know what to do with it.
Now because you don’t know exactly what entered into you, you create your own chaos and nothing gets done.
Nothing gets done, and then you forget to be generous, or you forget to be humble.
Once you forget to be humble, you’ve lost something.

Chaos takes you out of the moment.
Any wave that comes at you in a horizontal level has you acting like someone else.
Chaos does not come vertically at you.
It comes horizontally to pull you to the left, to the right, to the front, and to the back.
Then when waves of joy come you wait to be drowned, because it can’t last.
When the waves of chaos come, you almost enjoy it because that’s familiar.

You don’t need to conquer chaos; you need to prevent it.
To live in chaos is to live in fear.
I have seen over the years what the mind does when the mind is chaotic. It prevents you from life, and many people turn to drugs out of the deep pain of chaos and confusion.

Prevent chaos.
Each time you wake up in the morning, before you say a prayer, before you take a breath, just say, “I’m going to consume you today and I’m going to grow.”
To prevent chaos you must eat it, you must consume it, and you put it right in your belly and you imagine a fire in your belly burning chaos before chaos exists.
Before your day becomes chaotic, it burns in the belly.

When you have great humility you’re eating chaos.
Then it can’t get you. It can’t even shoot arrows at you.

I love you all.
Love,
Ma Jaya

From Ma’s Darshan Line teachings 11/20/2007

Namaste,

There is no teaching like experiencing yourselves as whole and being part of the Beloved’s essence of love.
To learn how to cherish the moments of meditation with the Beloved is to live with great gratitude in your heart.
One experiences the natural state of wholeness, joy and peace.
It is the awareness of gratitude that allows for spiritual transformation.

The Beloved teaches with humor, clarity, compassion and love.
The Beloved teaches spirituality in a way that unites everyday difficulties with life’s breath and the solutions to help you get out of your own way.
The Beloved keeps you on the track of service while taking care of you.
The Beloved brings particular advice about the ordinary mundane problems that most of us struggle with.

The Beloved takes the time to make absolutely clear that all of life does not have to be made up of complications.
The Beloved brings a fresh perspective into ancient insights.
Yet most of all, the Beloved teaches you of love and how to let go of all that is not love.
Letting go or surrendering to your Higher Self can only bring clarity and joy.
The Beloved sets your hearts and minds free to soar on the wings of the angels of peace.
The Beloved shows you that the Universal Mother is your guide through all the pathways of life and death.

The conflicted mind does not let you feel the whole realm of love.
It splits you in half and does not let you feel the peace that you were born to feel.
The higher mind is the whole mind.
The lower mind is the ego’s mind.
The Beloved shows you the place of wholeness within your heart.
You are never alone.
When you can experience love in your heart, you know of the loving connection to others.
This connection is always there, even when you slip back into your ego mind.
To let go of your more destructive thoughts is to fire up your spiritual passionate heart.
Surrendering to your essential self simply means that you are not at war with your negative thoughts.
Never hold back your heart to anyone.

I love you all so much.
Love,
Ma Jaya

Excerpted from Ma’s darshan line, November 20, 2007

Namaste my chelas all over the world,

One of our Baba’s greatest teachings is “Never throw anyone out of your heart.”
You are truly blessed by all to whom you show love.
Blessings come in the giving of your heart to others.
This moment feel your breath coming in and out.
Just be in the now with your breath.
Allow your breath to lead you into a calmness of heart and mind.
Be very attentive to your breath.
When you find your mind wandering, bring it gently to your breath once again.
Whenever you feel yourself lost outside the moment, listen to your breath.
Remember always that you are not your past, nor are you the difficulties you encounter on the path of life.

As problems assault you, come back to the breath even for a few seconds.
Doing this you will find love for yourself and for others.
Due to the watching of the breath you are able to let go of any negative patterns that you have in your life.

I ride the essence of your breath as a reminder of unconditional love that I have for all of you, every moment of every day.
Remember these words always.
I love you all so very much.
Love,
Ma Jaya
