Listen to Your Breath

Excerpted from Ma’s darshan line, November 20, 2007

Namaste my chelas all over the world,

One of our Baba’s greatest teachings is “Never throw anyone out of your heart.” You are truly blessed by all to whom you show love. Blessings come in the giving of your heart to others. This moment feel your breath coming in and out. Just …more

Breath Awareness

As you practice awareness of your breath, you are practicing awareness of all of life. Many of us just assume that breathing is an automatic process, nothing we need to pay attention to. Remember though that the word ‘spirit’ is derived from the Latin word for breath. No matter how lost you may feel, your breath is always with …more

The Breath of Commitment

There is no separation between the created and the Creator. When the illusion of reality of the separate self is removed, there is joy in the gracious space of the body, mind, soul, and spirit. When you practice meditation, depression in the world can begin to melt away. The seeking of enlightenment is a major commitment.

It is the …more

Breath for Everyday Situations

When someone is angry at you, you recognize the feeling of contraction in your chest. When you recognize rising tension and irritation, take a deep breath; that pause will bring you instantaneous acknowledgment, and you instantly feel an awareness of the situation. With this pause you are consuming the anger.

Mother’s Breath

When you begin to sit in meditation, watch the out-breath and then let the breath come in as it will. Do this breathing, and let the out-breath take you out into the universe. Feel the sensations and the movement of the breath. Let anything that arises be touched with the Universal Mother’s hand.

Pain and the Breath

There are times in your life that you cannot feel what else is going on in your life because of a traumatic experience. You are consumed in the traumatic experience. Yet no matter what it is, the Mother’s breath can be felt in just one second on calling Her name.
Instead of being disassociated and numb, the most powerful path of understanding is that you have a softening of your heart. I understand what it is to feel that you are trapped in a space of fear.
The only place that is bigger than fear is love. Cultivating love for yourself when things are going good is a great practice.

The Way of the Universe Breath

Your natural state is a state of God-intoxicated bliss. You must understand this state, for with it you have to live your life.
The deliberate thought of fullness of the Universe can give you the ability to live fully in your everyday life. Entering your breath by being aware of your breath, you enter the beginning of your journey into the Formless. Breathing in to the count of seven through your third eye, holding it in the third eye for a count of seven, letting it out for the count of seven, and holding it out for the count of seven brings you to a place of entering your breath.

Counting Breath

Every time I am asked for a meditation, I always say you should get in touch with your inner being. Focus on your breathing. Breathe in for 7 seconds, hold the breath for 7 seconds, let out the breath for 7 seconds,  hold out for 7 seconds, and then start again.

If you cannot hold the breath for this …more
